Hi There!
I’m Eashtha Dediwela - an avid animal lover (and dog mum to three pups - a Golden Retriever (Bruno), Toy Poodle mix (Dusty), and William), horse rider, sustainability enthusiast and degree holder, and now an author of a memoir called ‘Like No Other’. I’m a very witty, tall, skinny girl with curly and frizzy hair who hails from Colombo, Sri Lanka - an island in the middle of the Indian ocean. I pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Sustainability at Arizona State University, USA where I lived alone and got to raise my dream dog ‘William’ (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - William, King Charles, get it?). After I finished my degree, I packed my stuff into three heavy duty boxes from Lowe’s, shipped them, packed the remainder of my stuff into two suitcases and hopped on a plane back to Sri Lanka with William where we will spend sometime with family and friends until I finish my Master’s degree in Sustainability. If there’s one thing important about me that you should know, it’s that my life wasn’t filled with rainbows and butterflies…
I suffered from a bad episode of depression and anxiety (which I still struggle with) when I was in Senior School (Year 7 - Year 13). During this period, was bullied and cornered, found it difficult to find friends (so much so that I ate in the school’s restrooms during break time), was constantly called ‘weird’ and ‘odd’, fell behind in my academics, and felt completely lost. I find it important to note that my classmates had no idea that I was battling depression and anxiety. All they saw was perhaps an odd girl who barely smiled sticking to her teachers.
During the time I searched for a book written by someone who has experienced something similar, but I couldn’t find any. So, I took it upon myself to write one. The book has now been published with Kindle Direct Publishing. It has always been a dream of mine to start a blog that compliments my book…so here it is.
